Few words about us
Iyarkai foundation started on July 24th, 2011 by M.Vinoth Raj with the motive of awareness to public people regarding environmental preservation and to grow up trees, plants in cities to reduce pollution.
Iyarkai Foundation is the Tamilnadu's lead charity for trees, promoting their importance in a changing environment. From climate change to biodiversity, air quality to water availability, forests are at the center of the most important environmental challenges we face today.
At Iyarkai Foundation, we believe that tackling poverty and environmental protection are inseparable. We build on the self-reliance of the communities we work with, increasing not only their chances of survival but also maintaining their dignity. At the same time, we help those communities to invest their time in protecting the environment, building its richness and health not just for today but for generations to come.
Planting is a great way to help sequester carbon emissions. Through photosynthesis trees absorb carbon dioxide to produce oxygen and wood. By ensuring that trees planted are native broad leaf species this helps to preserve the environment and biodiversity. Planting takes place in school locations and other protected biodiversity sites.
